The British Land National Championships 2009 took place in Meribel, France from 26th March to 6th April. I flew over from the US, taking a short break at home before flying to Europe. I had picked up a virus and wanted to rest before skiing again. I flew to Geneva with Easyjet which was a complete nightmare. Excess baggage paid, check in lady clearly on the verge of collapse, I continued my journey to Meribel. I got there a few days before everyone else so I managed to get in some more rest ready for the jam packed week ahead. Here is a summary of the races and my positions: Monday 30th March - National Junior downhill - 1st ! Training hadn't gone so well with the soft conditions, but the race came together for me. I was really pleased with my run. Tues 31st March - National Champs downhill - 3rd Brit My first race against Chemmy and Pam. I felt pretty good before the race and just wanted to get as close to Pam as I could. I was delighted with 3rd. Wed 1st March - Junior Super G - 1st! National Champs Super G - bronze (for british) With conditions deteriorating, this race proved to be quite a problem, with many racers skiing out of the course. It was a fast course and you really had to commit to get through it. I was really pleased with my run and ended up within half a second to Pam. Thurs 2nd April - National Champs slalom - 3rd Brit Fri 3rd April - National Champs Giant slalom - 4th Brit Edged out off the podium by half a second! Sun 5th April - National Junior Champs slalom - 1st Brit Mon 6th April - National Junior Champs Giant slalom - 1st Brit Im now starting dryland training and i am doing a lot of biking and boxing as well as regular lifting sessions. Its great to be home with my family! Sega |
